From its origins as the White House Flower Fund, evolving into the White House Security Fund, and eventually becoming the White House Gift Shop, this institution has been shaped by history. After the tragic assassination attempt on President Truman in 1950, during which Officer Leslie W. Coffelt made the ultimate sacrifice, the shop’s mission expanded to include honoring law enforcement, the military, and their families. Today, we continue to fulfill that purpose with steadfast dedication.

For nearly 70 years, the White House Gift Shop operated within the White House itself, overseen by members of the Secret Service Uniformed Division. In 1998, we launched our online store to provide public access to these unique and meaningful artifacts of American history.
