In early 2022, the world witnessed a pivotal moment in the defense of democracy when Russia launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24th. Under the leadership of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine mounted a valiant defense, inspiring global support and drawing extensive military and humanitarian aid. Zelenskyy's leadership became a symbol of resilience, and his visit to the United States on December 21st, 2022, highlighted the unity and resolve of democratic nations. The 20th coin in President Biden’s Historic Moments Series honors the second in-person meeting between Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President Joe Biden at the White House on September 21st, 2023. This will be President Zelenskyy’s second visit to Washington since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
