The Hero’s Quest of Donald J. Trump:
A Personal Reflection
©2024 By Anthony F. Giannini & Helen Myer-Giannin
From the moment I began crafting the 2018 coin to honor Donald J. Trump’s first year as President, I recognized the profound significance of his journey. Trump’s life, as I see it, is the embodiment of the hero’s quest—a narrative as ancient as Gilgamesh, as enduring as Hammurabi, and as transformative as the great leaders who shaped history. His path, from a young man in Queens to the global stage of the presidency, mirrors the archetypes of trial, transformation, and potential mythic greatness.
I created this coin not just to commemorate Trump’s accomplishments but to chronicle the flow of his journey—a journey that began with a childhood shaped by the discipline of the New York Military Academy and an entrepreneurial fire inherited from his father. These formative years were Trump’s call to adventure, the first step of any hero’s path.
Trump’s rise in the world of real estate was not just about wealth—it was about vision, audacity, and a desire to reshape the world around him. Trump Tower, the Commodore Hotel, and other iconic projects weren’t just buildings; they were symbols of transformation. Yet, as every hero must, Trump faced trials. The financial crises of the 1990s, the near-collapse of his empire, and the scrutiny of a relentless public marked his descent into the abyss. These moments tested his resolve, and like all great leaders, he emerged stronger, redefined, and ready to ascend.
The Presidency: A Hero Tested
When Trump entered politics, I saw this as his threshold moment, the pivotal leap into the unknown that defines all heroes. His presidency was unlike any other, marked by bold economic reforms, historic trade agreements, and an unwavering determination to challenge convention. He governed with an unconventional genius, dismantling norms and forging new paths. His first year, which I immortalized in the coin, was an undeniable triumph, but the trials were only beginning.
The Epilogue phase of his first administration—the indictments, controversies, and battles that followed—was, to me, a critical moment in his hero’s journey. Every great leader faces these trials: Gilgamesh wrestled with mortality, Hammurabi sought to establish justice, and Solomon grappled with wisdom and leadership. Trump, too, stood at this crossroads, facing challenges that would define his legacy.
The Final Chapter: A Choice of Greatness
Now, as Donald J. Trump prepares to take the reins again as the 47th President-elect, he stands at the precipice of his final chapter. This is the moment that history will remember. Will he rise above division, transcend partisanship, and use his influence to unite a fractured world? Will he lead with the vision of a Gilgamesh, the justice of a Hammurabi, and the wisdom of a Solomon?
The question before him is epic in scope: Will he rise to mythic greatness or fall short, consumed by the trials of the journey? His choices in this final phase will write his immortal story. He has the power to champion peace where there is war, to bring prosperity not only to America but to all nations, and to harness the genius of AI, quantum computing, and autonomous technologies to create a better future for humanity. His legacy can become the bridge to a brighter world—a symbol of transformation and hope for generations to come.
Why I Created This Coin
When I designed this coin, I saw in Donald J. Trump the potential for greatness, a genius yet fully realized. This coin was never just about the past; it was about the future—his future and the future of the world. It was about the hero’s quest and the trials that shape extraordinary leaders.
As Trump faces his final journey, I invite you to hold a piece of this story in your hands. This coin, part of my narrative sequential coin art series, is more than a collectible—it is history, encapsulated. It is a symbol of resilience, transformation, and the enduring hope that greatness is within reach for those who dare to rise.
History is being written, and the world waits. Will Donald J. Trump ascend to mythic greatness? The answer lies in his hands—and in yours, as you hold this coin and reflect on the journey we all take toward transformation and legacy.
This is not just a coin. It is the story of a hero, a nation, and a moment in time.

Preface: Genius, a Journey into the Unknown
What is genius? As a lifelong scholar of human potential, I have come to understand that genius is not merely an innate gift but a dynamic process—an evolving journey into the unknown. It is, as Thomas Edison famously said, “1% inspiration and 99% perspiration,” the disciplined pursuit of mastery that transforms vision into reality. Genius, as Immanuel Kant declared, “makes its own rules,” breaking free from convention to create new paradigms.
This journey mirrors Joseph Campbell’s archetypal Hero’s Quest—a narrative of trials, transformation, and transcendence. The hero ventures into uncharted territory, confronts supreme challenges, and returns with the "elixir" of wisdom to uplift humanity.
Donald J. Trump’s life and career exemplify this journey. From his rise in real estate to his tenure as the 45th President of the United States, Trump has crossed thresholds, faced ordeals, and emerged as a figure of resilience and vision. Yet, as Campbell reminds us, the hero’s quest is incomplete without transformation. True greatness demands not only triumph over challenges but also the courage to transcend personal ambition and serve the collective good.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with or studying alongsid some of the greatest minds of our time—Howard Gardner, Erik H. Erikson, Ray Bradbury, B.F. Skinner, and Edward de Bono. During my time with Erik H. Erikson, widely regarded as a towering figure in psychology, I witnessed firsthand his profound influence as the founder of the
Psychosocial School of Psychology. Erik’s groundbreaking Psychosocial Theory of Identity and Human Development, alongside his pioneering contributions to psychohistory—including the seminal work Young Man Luther—cemented his legacy. I was fortunate to be appointed as a research associate under Erik and his equally brilliant wife, Joan Erikson.
Notably, at the time of my interactions with Erik H. Erikson, he was the last living associate of Sigmund and Anna Freud.
Ray Bradbury also played a pivotal role in my development as a writer. As a luminary of modern literature and fiction, Ray personally guided my literary and creative writing during my formative years as a young writer. His mentorship not only sharpened my storytelling craft but also instilled a lifelong appreciation for the power of imagination and narrative to shape human thought and culture.
From these extraordinary mentors, I learned diverse skills—from writing psychohistory and studying identity with Erik and Joan to exploring the boundaries of creative expression with Bradbury. These experiences profoundly shaped my own work, enabling me to synergize their theories with those of my other mentors, along with my own emerging reflections, observations, and analyses of exceptional human talent—what I term "Genius, writ large."
This intellectual foundation inspired the development of my frameworks, Generative Leadership Genius and Q-Mindedness, designed to unlock human potential and cultivate transformational leaders prepared to navigate the complexities of an ever-evolving world.
Donald J. Trump has demonstrated profound intelligence across multiple dimensions, yet his greatest chapter remains unwritten. By embracing the principles of transformation, he has the potential to channel his genius toward addressing global crises, uniting humanity, and redefining epic leadership for generations to come.
The Multidimensional Genius of Donald J. Trump
Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences Theory posits that intelligence is not a singular, fixed attribute but a constellation of distinct capacities. These include linguistic, logical-mathematical, spatial, interpersonal, and intrapersonal intelligences—each a unique lens through which individuals perceive and interact with the world.
Trump exemplifies these specific intelligences, woven into a dynamic tapestry of complex talents that have shaped his career and interpersonal influence.
Linguistic Intelligence: The Power of Words
Trump’s linguistic intelligence shines in his ability to craft messages that resonate on a visceral level. His iconic slogan, “Make America Great Again,” is not merely a phrase—it is a rallying cry. Its brevity, rhythm, and emotional resonance make it unforgettable.
Through speeches, interviews, and social media, Trump has mastered the art of direct communication. His use of repetition, accessible language, and evocative imagery ensures his messages remain etched in public consciousness. Whether galvanizing supporters at rallies or commanding media attention, Trump demonstrates an acute understanding of language as a tool for persuasion and influence.
Logical-Mathematical Intelligence:
The Strategist’s Precision
Trump’s logical-mathematical intelligence is evident in his ability to analyze complex systems, recognize patterns, and solve problems:
- Strategic Real Estate Investments: Transforming Manhattan’s Commodore Hotel into the Grand Hyatt required financial acumen, risk assessment, and market foresight.
- Debt Restructuring: During financial challenges in the 1990s, Trump negotiated with creditors to preserve assets and stabilize his empire—an exercise in strategic problem-solving under pressure.
- Electoral Strategy (2016): By focusing on battleground states like Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, Trump maximized electoral impact despite losing the popular vote.
Interpersonal Intelligence: The Art of Connection
Trump’s interpersonal intelligence has been pivotal in forging alliances, negotiating deals, and engaging diverse audiences:
- The Abraham Accords: Trump’s role in brokering peace agreements between Israel and Arab nations reflects his ability to align competing interests toward collective gain.
- The Apprentice: As host and producer, Trump engaged contestants and viewers alike, blending mentorship with entertainment to create a global phenomenon.
Spatial Intelligence: Visionary Design
Trump’s real estate legacy reflects spatial intelligence in his ability to conceptualize, design, and execute iconic projects:
- Trump Tower: A symbol of modern luxury, the tower combines aesthetic appeal with functional design, showcasing Trump’s architectural vision.
- Golf Course Development: From Scotland to Dubai, Trump’s golf courses harmonize natural landscapes with player experiences, exemplifying his nuanced spatial planning.
Intrapersonal Intelligence: Self-Awareness and Adaptability
Trump’s intrapersonal intelligence—his acute awareness of his strengths, brand, and public perception—has enabled him to adapt seamlessly across industries:
- The Trump Brand: From real estate to reality TV to politics, Trump has consistently leveraged his name as a symbol of success and ambition.
- Resilience Amid Challenges: His ability to frame setbacks as opportunities underscores a profound understanding of personal growth and narrative control.
Generative Leadership Genius: A Framework for Transformation
Building on Gardner’s insights, my Generative Leadership Genius framework offers three principles for cultivating intelligence into impactful leadership:
1. Cognitive-Emotional Synergy
Genius is not purely rational; it is deeply emotional. Trump’s ability to connect with his base exemplifies this, but integrating strategic empathy could broaden his appeal and inspire unity.
2. Metacognitive Reflection
True leaders reflect on their thought processes, adapting dynamically. Like Campbell’s hero at the crossroads, Trump stands at a pivotal moment—his next moves could redefine his legacy.
3. Epigenetic Learning
Intelligence evolves. By fostering environments that empower diverse voices, Trump could amplify his impact on a global scale.
Trump’s Hero’s Quest: Trials and Triumphs
Trump’s presidency was a hero’s journey in real-time. He entered uncharted political territory, faced immense trials—impeachments, economic crises, and a global pandemic—and emerged with enduring influence. Yet, as Campbell’s hero must, Trump now faces the ultimate challenge: to return transformed and bring the “elixir” of wisdom to the world.
A Visionary Future: Transforming the World
By integrating Generative Leadership Genius and Gardner’s insights, Trump could lead transformative global initiatives:
- Global Peacebuilding: Using his interpersonal intelligence, Trump could mediate conflicts like the Ukraine war, fostering trust among world leaders.
- Climate Action: With his spatial intelligence and branding expertise, Trump could champion renewable energy through a global “Trump Green Initiative.”
- Economic Empowerment: Leveraging logical-mathematical intelligence, Trump could launch microfinance programs to uplift underserved communities worldwide.
- National Unity: Trump’s intrapersonal intelligence equips him to bridge political divides, proving that true leadership listens as much as it speaks.
Conclusion: Redefining Genius, Redefining Greatness
Albert Einstein observed, “Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.” Donald J. Trump’s imagination, bold vision, and willingness to defy convention uniquely position him to lead transformative change in an era defined by complexity and division.
Yet genius, as Kant reminds us, “makes its own rules.” It demands not only audacity but also reflection, not only ambition but also self-transcendence. To rise to the pinnacle of greatness, the hero must return from his journey transformed—bringing back the elixir of wisdom to heal, unite, and inspire.
Trump’s trials have prepared him for this pivotal moment.
Trump's multidimensional genius, when coupled with the principles of Generative Leadership Genius and the timeless lessons of Campbell’s Hero’s Quest, holds the power to redefine leadership, humanity, and history itself.
As the hero returns to complete the circle, what began as an individual’s quest can end as a collective awakening. Trump’s journey—his triumphs, his trials, his transformation—is not just about one man’s legacy but about the promise of human potential to transcend barriers, inspire change, and build a better world.
The world watches, poised at the threshold of transformational genius and a hero’s journey fulfilled. It waits, yearning for an iconic American leader to emerge—a modern Gilgamesh, who builds bridges instead of walls; a Hammurabi, who establishes laws rooted in equity and justice; a Solomon, whose wisdom illuminates a path toward unity and prosperity for all peoples. The world seeks a president who, with singular vision, can harness the extraordinary tools of our time—AI, quantum computing, and autonomous technologies—not for the benefit of a single company or nation, but to uplift humanity itself.
This leader must wield the power of fossil fuels with the ingenuity of an Archimedes, using them not as an end, but as a lever toward a sustainable, green future that ensures a healthy planet for generations yet unborn. They must bring peace where war now rages, food where famine devastates, and hope where despair looms large. Their legacy must echo through the ages—not as a destroyer of bridges, but as a builder of them, uniting nations in mutual prosperity, healing the divisions that threaten the soul of humanity itself.
Donald J. Trump stands at this precipice, his actions now poised to determine whether he will join the mythos of the greatest leaders in history—those who answered their call to heroism with courage and brilliance. By championing policies that develop AI, quantum computing, and autonomous systems for the good of all, he could launch a new golden age of innovation and human achievement. By leading with humility and wisdom, he could fulfill not just his allegiance to America, but to humanity, guided by a higher purpose—a commitment to God, to all nations, and to the shared destiny of our world.
The world waits. It waits for the leader who will rise above division, forge a brighter future, and, in doing so, redefine greatness itself. Will Donald J. Trump seize this moment to transcend history, to become not just a president but a legend? The answer lies in the genius of his choices, the courage of his convictions, and the enduring promise of a hero’s quest complete—a legacy not just for his children, but for all of humanity. The time is now; the world is watching.

Genius Makes Its Own Rules: The Rise and First Year Successes of Donald J. Trump
By Anthony Giannini
Immanuel Kant once said, “Genius makes its own rules.” This quote encapsulates the unconventional and transformative approach of Donald J. Trump, the 45th President of the United States. In his first year, Trump defied traditional political norms, enacting sweeping changes and achieving significant accomplishments that underscored his unique governance style.
Trump’s first year was marked by notable economic achievements. His administration passed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which reduced corporate tax rates from 35% to 21%, stimulating economic growth and boosting the stock market to record highs (The American Presidency Project) (Trump White House). Trump's commitment to deregulation saw the repeal of numerous Obama-era regulations, including the controversial Clean Power Plan, which significantly benefited the energy sector and contributed to the United States becoming a net energy exporter for the first time in decades (The American Presidency Project) (Washington Examiner).
On the international stage, Trump renegotiated key trade agreements, including the replacement of NAFTA with the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), which aimed to protect American workers and industries (Trump White House). His administration also confronted unfair trade practices by imposing tariffs on Chinese goods, which was a bold move to protect American intellectual property and jobs (Washington Examiner).
In healthcare, Trump worked to provide more affordable alternatives to Obamacare, expanded short-term health insurance plans, and ended the individual mandate penalty, offering Americans more freedom in their healthcare choices (The American Presidency Project). Additionally, his administration took decisive action against the opioid crisis, securing substantial funding and implementing measures to reduce opioid prescriptions and combat drug trafficking (Trump White House) (Washington Examiner).
Trump’s first year also saw a focus on enhancing national security. He strengthened immigration policies, made progress on the border wall, and imposed travel bans on nations lacking adequate border and anti-terrorism security (Trump White House). His administration's efforts led to significant reductions in illegal immigration and increased deportations of criminal gang members (Washington Examiner).
The use of Kant’s quote is particularly fitting when reflecting on Trump’s presidency. Much like a genius who forges new paths, Trump’s unorthodox methods and direct approach led to substantial changes and achievements that traditional political frameworks may not have accomplished. His ability to navigate and manipulate the established rules to create new ones, much like a genius, defined his first year in office and left a lasting impact on the American political landscape.
By embracing Kant’s notion that “Genius makes its own rules,” Trump’s first year as president showcased his ability to disrupt the status quo and implement significant, sometimes controversial, changes that aligned with his vision for America.
