White House Ornament, #14 in Series, THE EAST WING DOORS TO JACQUELINE KENNEDY
GARDEN, 24 KT Gold Finished, Handmade in the USA by Makers of Official Ornament
THE
EAST WING
The
first decorations viewed by tour groups in the East Wing are a sleigh filled
with presents and trees adorned with festive ornaments. They are placed near
the double doors that lead into the Jacqueline Kennedy garden. The East Wing
was added to the White House in 1942 during World War II and was used as office
space for the military. Today, there is still office space for the military,
and the Wing also serves as office space for the First Lady's staff, Social
Office, the Visitors office, the President's theater, and the East Colonnade.
Visitors touring the White House enter through the east entrance and follow the
East Colonnade past the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden to enter the Residence to
rooms on the Ground and State Floors. Our ornaments are prized by collectors,
traders, and given as gifts, worldwide, for their beauty as well as the
historical stories embedded within form and content of these beautiful annual
White House ornaments.

White House Ornament, Eisenhower Executive Office Building, #15 in Collection,
24 KT Gold Finished, Handmade in USA by Official Ornament Makers
THE
EISENHOWER EXECUTIVE OFFICE BUILDING, #15 in Collection
Next
door to the White House, the Eisenhower Executive Office Building (EEOB)
commands a unique position in both our national history and architectural
heritage. Designed by Supervising Architect of the Treasure, Alfred B. Mullen,
the EEOB was from 1871 to 1888 to house the growing staff of the State, War,
and Navy Departments. The Eisenhower Executive Office Building is considered
one of the best examples of French Second Empire architecture in the United
States. In bold contrast to many of the somber classical revival buildings in
Washington, the EEOB's ornately elegant style epitomizes the optimism and
exuberance of the of the Post-Civil War period in America.
In
addition to the Vice President's office in the West Wing of the White House,
the Vice President and his staff maintain a set of offices in the EEOB, which
is located next to the West Wing on the White House premises
