Dear Friends of the White House Gift Shop,
Today, on Veterans Day, we take a heartfelt pause to honor the bravery, sacrifice, and dedication of those who have served our country.
It’s a day that resonates deeply, as it stands alongside Armistice Day, commemorating the end of World War I on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month—a historic moment of peace in a world once shadowed by conflict.
In remembrance and respect, I am honored to offer a unique keepsake from the Official White House Gift Shop: the 100th Armistice Anniversary Commemorative Coin, as issued for President Donald J. Trump’s tribute in Paris, 2018.
This coin captures the spirit of courage and honor shown by all who served. As my personal tribute to my fellow veterans, I am extending this offer today without a case or box to keep this meaningful piece accessible to all.
This coin is more than a commemoration; it is a token of our shared journey as veterans and a mark of respect for the bonds we hold dear. God bless each and every one of you for your service and sacrifices.
Warmly,

The Meaning of Armistice and Veterans Day

Armistice Day was born from the historic cessation of World War I hostilities on November 11, 1918.
Signed at 11:00 a.m.—the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month—this armistice represented a collective exhale for a world weary from war. Celebrated annually in the United States and other Allied nations, Armistice Day initially focused on remembering the fallen soldiers of World War I and honoring the fragility and importance of peace.
In 1954, with countless veterans from World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day was transformed into Veterans Day in the United States, broadening its purpose to recognize all veterans who have served in any conflict or peacetime role. Veterans Day thus unites all service members, past and present, under a banner of gratitude and remembrance. Today, we honor both the memory of peace in 1918 and the ongoing service and sacrifice of America’s veterans.
The eleventh hour, the symbol of peace, remains an enduring reminder of our commitment to honoring those who serve and upholding the values they protect.
